Interactive Durational performance 4hrs
The Laboratory was installed at POW in Brixton for a Wormfood Music Event.
My second Wormfood collaboration was out in the open, on the terrace at the Prince of Wales, where a Dj was playing his set, a collaborative Mural was in the process of creation by me and fellow humans.
Situating the Lab in the public sphere, part of life, part of London Nightlife. I hi-jack the communal energy of the event to explore the creative interactions between myself and unsuspecting participants in the performance and between each other.
I created The Funk Lab, taking old OHP projectors and a magic box of tricks, containing a personal collection of objects, glass bowls, paper marbling inks and paint to music and arts events. My aim is to use live art to create an alternative space for interaction, conversation and creation at existing events. Participants help to create moving visuals and sometimes translate this onto a painted mural, building up a picture throughout the event to record interactions and explore stories.
